OFERENDA 2023
Oferenda, meaning “offering” in Portuguese, is Paulo Almeida’s fifth album as a bandleader and a musical expression of gratitude rooted in Brazil’s traditions of music and spirituality. Released on September 1st by ANUK Label, the album features an international quintet with Óscar Latorre (trumpet), Thiago Alves (bass), Lorenzo Vitolo (piano), and Devin Daniels (alto saxophone), and includes special guest appearances by Beninese guitar legend Lionel Loueke and Spanish percussionist Alberto Garcia, blending contemporary jazz with sacred and metaphysical influences.
UNIT - LIVE AT BIRD'S EYE 2019
Paulo Almeida’s fourth album was recorded live in February 2019 during a European tour, capturing the energy of his quintet at a jazz club in Basel, Switzerland. Featuring Diego Garbin (trumpet), Oliver Pellet (guitar), Felipe Brisola (bass), Salomão Soares (piano), and Paulo Almeida (drums, vocals, and compositions), the album reflects the group’s dynamic interplay and improvisational strength.
PARCERIA 2017
Parceria is Paulo Almeida’s third album, recorded in November 2016 after an invitation from the jazz label Blaxtream. Created intensively over one month, the record captures a spontaneous and intuitive process shaped by strong musical connections within the quartet, featuring Bruno Migotto (acoustic bass), Jota P (saxophone and flute), and Salomão Soares (piano), with special guests Gabriel Grossi (harmonica) and Sergio Coelho (trombone).
CORPO E ALMA 2016
Paulo Almeida’s album Corpo e Alma was recorded in December 2015 after an intense creative laboratory process, resulting in a solid and expressive work that symbolizes the connection between matter and the spiritual realm. Shaped by his deep experience with universal music, the album reflects a personal journey of growth and renewal, blending Brazilian roots with rhythms and concepts from different regions, and features special guest appearances by Hermeto Pascoal, Arismar do Espírito Santo, and André Marques. Through melodic fluidity, rich timbres, and refined polyrhythms, Almeida’s instrumental music communicates with sensitivity and depth, even without the use of lyrics.
CONSTATAÇÕES 2013
Recorded in 2013, Constatações Paulo Almeida’s debut album marked the beginning of his career as a composer and bandleader, featuring Vinicius Dorin (in memoriam) on saxophones and flute, Diego Garbin on trumpet, Beto Corrêa on piano, and Filipe Maróstica on bass. The album includes six original compositions and one by Dorin, Cincando, and features special guests Vanessa Moreno (vocals), Marcos Moraes (guitar), Fábio Leal (guitar), and Jota P (saxophone). With standout tracks like Ai Fica Puxado, noted for its rhythmic originality, and Constatações, the record captures the foundation of Almeida’s artistic voice and was recorded at Gargolândia Studios in São Paulo.
